Color options are often the make-or-break point on any car sale. Automotive companies know that consumers want to have some personal expression involved with their vehicles. Hence, the exterior and/or interior color choices. In the case of the 2025 Ford Explorer, you get a range of colors. Some of these are vivid, while others are on par with "professional vehicles."

Ford Goes Metallic in 2025

The Ford Explorer for this year has several metallic options. If we're being honest here, the metallic sheens of these colors are quite striking. In terms of the metallic colors, you have:

  • Rapid Red Metallic – A medium cherry red with a metallic sheen
  • Star White Metallic – A vibrant white and hints at pearlized sheen
  • Iconic Silver Metallic - Resembles the sparkle of a solid silver coin
  • Agate Blue Metallic - Reflects a sort of calmed ocean with the sun bouncing off it
  • Agate Black Metallic – A reflective shiny black instead of a matte black or really dark black
  • Carbonized Gray Metallic – A fancy way of saying medium gray with a metallic shine

Previous Ford Explorer colors, like green or stone blue metallic, have been discontinued. A color called "Oxford White" is only available for Ford's service vehicles and not the passenger models.

Want the Lowdown on the Most Striking of These Colors?

The red metallic and the star white metallic are the most striking. There's something about the way the shine is reflected off these two colors on the vehicle that attracts attention. Of course, if you would rather drive the Ford Explorer as a transport vehicle around Buhl, ID, the black agate version is your best bet.

Ford Charges Extra for Certain Paint Colors

Some of these colors are standard options, meaning that there's no extra charge. That's not the case with the blue metallic. It will cost you an extra $500.
